Caraka Samhita is considered as one of the best compendia in the literature of Ayurveda and hence it has been given the status of Brhattrayi. This treatise contains eight sections and 120 chapters' viz. Sūtrasthana (30), Nidānasthāna (08), Vimanasthāna (08), Särirasthāna (08), Indriyasthana (12), Cikitsästhāna (30), Kalpasthäna (12) and Siddhisthāna (12). According to CCIM Syllabus the entire Caraka Samhita has been divided into 2 parts as Purvärtha and Uttarartha. In the Second Edition year BAMS, the students will be taught Pürvärtha which covers Sūtrasthāna, Nidanasthāna, Vimanasthāna, Sarirasthāna, Indriyasthāna. The first volume contains Sutrasthana only and was published. This is the second volume and it contains the remaining sections of Purvärtha such as Nidanasthāna, Vimanasthāna, Särirasthāna and Indriyasthāna. This book is having the unique feature of presentation of nearly 800 pictures and also tables and line diagrams for easy understanding of the core concepts of the subject even by mediocre students.
