The present edition of Caraka Samhita is the first book in which complete Ayurvedadipika commentary of Cakrapäņidatta is translated in English . Besides this few other special points of book are : ✦ The translation of text and commentary is done almost in verbatim , except that any matter repeated in commentary itself is not translated . In translating the attempt is made to convey exact connotation of the author i.e. Caraka or Drdhabala and Cakrapāṇidatta . ✦ All alternative readings given in footnote , except those which convey the same matter as of original text are included with alternate reading in the text . At certain places own explanation are given but those are within the brackets so that reader does not get confused or think that to be view of Caraka or Cakrapāņi . At certain places separate notes after the translation of the text are also given . Language is very simple and intelligible . ✦ In order to maintain relevance and acceptability , for certain words opinion of Apte's or M.M.W's Dictionaries have been used liberally which also gives better clarity . ✦ The book is being presented in 3 volumes such as : Purvärdha ( Sūtra , Nidāna , Vimăna , Śărira and Indriyasthāna ) and Uttarardha , Part - 1 : Chikitsästhāna , Part - 2 : Kalpa and Siddhisthana ; in all volumes Index is given .
