Faultlines (Volume-34)
Ajai Sahni · Kautilya Books
South Asia is tentatively navigating a dangerous new world, overwhelmingly from a position of weakness and incoherence. This is a theatre of fierce contestation - the Asia Pacific is now the key focus of US-China rivalry, and the countries of this region are inevitably being drawn into the ambit of present contention and future conflict. Worse, each of the countries of this region has acute internal and external challenges, partly arising out of a widespread domestic politics of polarization, from external meddling and interference, and from the weakness of their economic, political and, crucially, technological profiles. While the general prospects appear bleak, it remains imperative to continue, indeed, in many cases, initiate, an urgent search for solutions.
